Black Currawong Tango

Black Currawong Tango  for Solo Piano is a characterization of the Pied Currawong, an Australian native bird. This piece characterizes the quirky behaviour of the Currawong and at bar 24 is reminiscent of its call.

The left hand is in the style of a Tango with the Habanera rhythm suggesting that the birds do a kind of Tango in the garden on a daily basis to gain their territory.

Black Currawong Tango was a set piece for the Enoggera Eisteddfod, Brisbane in 2014.
