Dugong from Animal Songs for Children is written for Unison or SA and piano. It is moderately fast in flowing triple time with blending harmonies and easy-to-remember words. The image of the Dugong floating peacefully through the water is reflected in the flowing arpeggiated accompaniment. It teaches harmonic blending, unison singing and develops the range of the voice. The words are sung three times through in variations and with embellishments each time. 
Dugong is featured on the Queensland Catholic School and Colleges Music Festival 2019 Adjudicator’s Representative Repertoire Compiled List; Dugong is also on the repertoire list for the Australian Boys Choir.
